Research

Our research at the Lyme and Tick-Borne Diseases Research Center has the fundamental goal of improving patient care. We recognize that clinicians need more sensitive diagnostic assays, more effective treatments, and more informative biomarkers that will enable clinicians to select the right treatment for the right patient. These are the goals of Precision Medicine. Fortunately, advances in biotechnology and data science are making these goals a reality. Our research studies, therefore, are varied, ranging from clinical treatment to the collection of biological samples for precision medicine investigations, to neuroimaging studies to identify aberrant brain-body circuits, to probing national medical record databases. We share biological samples with investigators from around the world, demonstrating the immense value of each patient's contribution. We are excited by the progress in research over the last decade. And we are extremely grateful to our collaborators, donors, and most importantly, patients who participate in research.
